3.2 - Seller Payment, Payout, and Stripe Onboarding Information

The Karate Market uses Stripe to support marketplace payments, Seller onboarding, and Seller payouts.

If You sell or attempt to sell Goods through the Service, Stripe may ask You to provide information required by Stripe for payment processing, payout processing, identity verification, fraud prevention, tax reporting, sanctions screening, risk review, and legal or regulatory compliance. The information Stripe requests is determined by Stripe and may depend on factors such as Your country, business type, account type, transaction activity, payout activity, risk level, and Stripe's own legal and compliance requirements.

The Karate Market does not directly collect or store full payment, banking, or identity verification information submitted through Stripe. Stripe collects and processes that information under Stripe's own terms and privacy policy. We may receive limited information from Stripe as needed to operate the marketplace, support transactions, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and maintain account security.

By using payment, checkout, Seller onboarding, or payout features, You understand that Stripe may collect and process information directly from You and that Stripe's use of that information is governed by Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.

3.3 - Order and Transaction Information

When You list, buy, sell, ship, receive, cancel, return, dispute, or otherwise participate in a transaction, We may collect:

  • Listings You create, save, view, edit, publish, pause, or remove
  • Goods listed or purchased
  • Prices, fees, taxes, discounts, shipping charges, refunds, and payout information
  • Buyer and Seller information
  • Order status and transaction history
  • Shipping address and delivery information
  • Tracking numbers and carrier information
  • Shipment, delivery, cancellation, return, refund, and dispute information
  • Messages or notes related to an Order
  • Photos, descriptions, measurements, packaging photos, condition evidence, authenticity evidence, or other information submitted for support or dispute review

3.4 - Listing, Profile, Message, Review, and User Content

The Service includes user-generated Content. When You use the Service, We may collect and store Content You provide, including:

  • Product photos
  • Product descriptions
  • Brand, size, model, certification, condition, and authenticity information
  • Messages between users

The information We receive depends on Your settings, the feature used, and the third party's own policies.

We may receive limited information from Stripe as described above, but We do not use sensitive information to infer personal characteristics about You.

Please do not send Us unnecessary sensitive information through listings, messages, support requests, or public marketplace features.

4 - How We Use Information

We use Personal Information to operate, maintain, protect, and improve the Service.

We may use information for the following purposes:

  • To create, manage, verify, secure, suspend, or terminate Accounts.

  • To operate the marketplace, including listings, search, profiles, messaging, Orders, shipping, delivery, returns, refunds, disputes, and support.

  • To process transactions, payments, refunds, fees, taxes, and payouts through Stripe.

  • To allow Sellers to list Goods and Buyers to purchase Goods.

  • To allow Buyers and Sellers to communicate through the Service.

  • To provide notifications, transaction updates, security alerts, support messages, dispute updates, and administrative messages.

  • To provide customer support and respond to requests.

  • To review, moderate, edit, remove, limit, or disable Content when needed.

  • To investigate disputes, returns, missing items, damaged items, authenticity concerns, unsafe products, prohibited items, fraud, abuse, or violations of Our Terms of Service.

  • To protect users, the Service, and marketplace integrity.

  • To prevent, detect, investigate, or respond to fraud, spam, chargebacks, account misuse, payment abuse, off-platform transaction attempts, counterfeit claims, intellectual property issues, safety concerns, or unlawful activity.

  • To support Stripe onboarding, payment eligibility, payout eligibility, and related compliance requirements.

  • To comply with legal obligations, law enforcement requests, court orders, tax obligations, sanctions rules, payment rules, accounting obligations, and regulatory requirements.

  • To enforce Our Terms of Service, marketplace rules, policies, and legal rights.

  • To analyze usage trends and improve the Service, user experience, marketplace features, search, listing quality, security, and performance.

  • To send newsletters, promotions, community updates, product updates, or marketing messages, where permitted by law and subject to Your opt-out choices.

  • To advertise or measure advertising, if We enable advertising or remarketing tools.

Users should use information received through the Service only for marketplace purposes and in accordance with the Terms of Service.

We may share information with Service Providers that help Us operate the Service, including:

  • Sharetribe or other marketplace platform providers
  • Stripe
  • Shipping carriers and shipping label providers

  • Fraud prevention, trust and safety, compliance, tax, legal, and accounting providers
  • Cloud hosting, database, security, and technical service providers

5.3 - With Stripe

The Service uses Stripe to support marketplace payments, Seller onboarding, and Seller payouts.

Stripe may collect and process information directly from You, including information needed for payments, payouts, identity verification, tax reporting, fraud prevention, risk review, sanctions screening, chargebacks, disputes, and legal or regulatory compliance.

We may share information with Stripe and receive limited information from Stripe as needed to process payments, refunds, payouts, fees, disputes, chargebacks, compliance checks, tax reporting, fraud prevention, and account security.

Stripe's collection and use of information is governed by Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.

5.4 - With Shipping and Delivery Providers

We may share information with shipping carriers, shipping label providers, tracking providers, and related vendors as needed to ship Goods, provide tracking, confirm delivery, manage missing or damaged packages, investigate claims, resolve disputes, or support returns.

This may include names, shipping addresses, tracking numbers, package information, carrier status, and transaction information.

5.5 - For Disputes, Safety, Fraud Prevention, and Legal Compliance

5.6 - With Affiliates or Business Partners

We may share information with Our affiliates, if any, provided they handle information consistently with this Privacy Policy.

We may also share information with business partners if needed to provide specific marketplace features, promotions, integrations, or services, or with Your consent.

6 - Payments, Seller Onboarding, and Stripe

The Service uses Stripe to support marketplace payments, Seller onboarding, and Seller payouts.

Buyers may be asked to provide payment information through Stripe in order to complete purchases. Sellers may be required to complete Stripe onboarding before listing Goods, receiving payouts, or using certain marketplace features.

Stripe may collect information directly from You according to Stripe's own requirements. This may include information needed for payment processing, payout processing, identity verification, tax reporting, fraud prevention, sanctions screening, risk review, and legal or regulatory compliance.

The Karate Market does not directly collect or store full payment, banking, or identity verification information submitted through Stripe. Stripe collects and processes that information under Stripe's own terms and privacy policy. We may receive limited information from Stripe as needed to operate the marketplace, support transactions, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and maintain account security.

Stripe may approve, deny, delay, hold, reverse, refund, or restrict payments or payouts according to Stripe's own terms, risk controls, legal obligations, and compliance requirements. We do not control all decisions made by Stripe, banks, card networks, or financial institutions.

7 - User Content, Listings, and Marketplace Visibility

Information You post publicly or semi-publicly through the Service may be visible to others.

This may include:

  • Listing photos
  • Listing descriptions
  • Brand, size, condition, certification, and price information
  • Display name
  • Profile information
  • Seller location at the city, state, or ZIP-code level, if enabled
  • Reviews, ratings, or feedback, if enabled
  • Public comments or other community features, if enabled

Please use care when posting Content. Do not include personal information in listing photos or descriptions unless You are comfortable with that information being visible to others. For example, avoid showing home addresses, school names, personal phone numbers, email addresses, children's names, license plates, or documents in listing photos.

We may remove, edit, blur, limit, or disable Content that violates Our Terms of Service, marketplace rules, privacy rights, safety rules, intellectual property rights, or applicable law.

8 - Messaging and User Communications

The Service may allow Buyers and Sellers to communicate through marketplace messages.

Messages may be visible to the sender, recipient, and authorized marketplace operator personnel or Service Providers as needed to operate the Service, provide support, investigate disputes, prevent fraud, enforce policies, or comply with law.

For user safety and marketplace protection, users should keep transaction communications, payment arrangements, shipping updates, and dispute-related information inside the Service whenever possible.

9 - Marketing Communications

We may use Your email address or other contact information to send marketplace updates, service notices, safety notices, policy updates, newsletters, promotions, or other communications.

You may opt out of marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in the email or by contacting Us. Even if You opt out of marketing messages, We may still send transactional, security, legal, support, or account-related messages.

10 - Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

We may use analytics tools to understand how users find and use the Service, improve marketplace features, detect errors, and measure performance.

We may also use advertising or remarketing tools if enabled. These tools may use Cookies, pixels, hashed identifiers, device identifiers, or similar technologies to measure advertising performance or show ads.

We also do not sell user lists, Account information, transaction information, Seller information, Buyer information, shipping information, payment information, or marketplace activity information to data brokers, advertisers, or other third parties.

We may share Personal Information with Service Providers, including Sharetribe, Stripe, shipping providers, support tools, analytics providers, fraud prevention vendors, legal advisors, tax advisors, and technical service providers, only as needed to operate, protect, improve, or support the Service, process transactions, comply with law, enforce Our Terms, or fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

If We ever use advertising, analytics, or remarketing technologies that are legally considered a "sale," "sharing," "targeted advertising," or "cross-context behavioral advertising" under applicable privacy laws, We will provide any required notice and opt-out mechanism.
